Josh Poindexter has been an owner/artist of Tornado Tattoo in Oklahoma City since 2006. When he opened Tornado Tattoo, it was amongst the first tattoo shops to open when tattooing became legal in the state of Oklahoma.
It is now an established shop known for the quality of art it produces. Josh graduated from Fort Lewis College in Colorado with a degree in art. During his college studies he was greatly influenced by Mick Reber, his professor and mixed media painter, whom he accredits for helping him stay focused and grow as an artist.
Upon graduation, Josh apprenticed at Monkey Wrench Tattoo under John Martin and continued to work there until he moved back to Oklahoma. Josh was born in Oklahoma and is a big supporter of the Oklahoma City community.
He was recently featured in the Daily Oklahoman and mentioned on Jimmy Kimmel Live and CNN for a promotion Tornado Tattoo did to show their support for the Oklahoma City Thunder during the NBA playoffs. Josh enjoys all styles of tattooing and prefers to use Ego, bishop, FK irons and traditional tattoo machines. Josh sets himself apart from other artists by his attention to detail and honesty with his customers. This is proven by Tornado Tattoo seeing many repeat customers who refer family and friends. Josh is not in the tattoo industry just to make money but to produce a quality piece of art for customer to appreciate for a lifetime.
